Diabetes is a condition in which the sugar levels in ones body exceeds the required limits. There are many types of Diaetes. This condition arises when the pancreas which secretes insulin and glucagon looses its full functionality and slowly goes down in producing the amount of hormones required for our body.
Normal Regulation of Blood Sugar
The important roles of insulin and glucagon in a human body.
The hormones which balances and maintains the level of blood sugar in a very narrow range in our body is Insulin and Glucagon. Insulin and glucagon are both secreted from the pancreas, and are referred to as pancreatic endocrine hormones. If the Pancreas produce the required amount of Insulin and Glucagon then a persons sugar levels will be maintained as required and he or she will not become Diabetic.
As the blood glucose rises in a persons blood the Pancreas manufactures more Insulin and as the blood sugar goes down so does the production of Insulin by the Pancreas.
Glucagon is secreted by the alpha cells of the pancreatic islets in much the same manner as insulin...except in the opposite direction. If blood glucose is high, then no glucagon is secreted. When blood glucose goes low, however, (such as between meals, and during exercise) more and more glucagon is secreted.
The work of glucagon is to make the liver release the glucose that it has stored in its cells into the blood stream, thereby increasing blood glucose.
Ganoderma Lucidum in the Treatment of Diabetes
Conventional treatment for diabetes uses medications to suppress blood sugar level. However medicines don't cure it. It only reduces and maintains the blood sugar levels. Long term medication for diabetes causes two main side effects. One is the hardening of blood vessels, causing stroke and heart disease. The other side effect is the interference with fats metabolism, causing a patient to become obese and to put on weight.
Ganoderma lucidum, which is also known as Reishi, has long been used to fight a wide range of diseases. It enhances vitality and delays the aging process in cells. Ganoderma Lucidum has a positive effect on blood sugar levels, cholesterol levels and blood fats. Ganoderma lucidum is even more potent when taken in combination with another medicinal mushroom called Cordyceps sinensis. Cordyceps is also thought to have significant health properties.
Ganoderma B and C which constitues Ganoderma lucidum reduces the blood glucose levels by enhancing utilization of blood glucose by body tissues. Ganoderma Lucidum acts as insulin to inhibit release of fatty acids thus improving symptoms in high blood glucose and high urine glucose patients.
The intake of Ganoderma Lcidum not only supplements insulin deficiency but also makes the pancreas regain its original function. For a layman Ganoderma Lucidum flushes out all toxines from the cells and also helps in regrowth of cells. Therefore any organ which is affected is retored to its original by the intake of Ganoderma Lucidum over a period of time.
Thus if a Diabetic patient takes Ganoderma Lucidum along with the medication for a period of time, I would say 6 months or more the patient will be cured of the Diabetes and the patients pancreas will regain its orginal form and function.
